Welcome to the Home of the Village Design Statement

In 2003 your Parish Council circulated a questionnaire and used the resulting feed back in the preparation of a Village Design Statement (VDS) highlighting, amongst other things, local distinctive features that you thought should be retained and built upon. The resulting booklet, giving some development / design guidance, was issued to all households for information and to Chester City Council (now CWAC, Cheshire West and Chester Council) with a view to influencing their planning decisions.

Mickle Trafford’s VDS document was amongst the earliest produced. Subsequent developments require the inclusion of references to local and national planning guidance and a detailed Landscape / Environment Assessment. When these references are made, the document can be considered for adoption as formal supplementary guidance for CWAC planners when considering local planning applications. With this in mind, the Parish Council has set up a working group, which includes lay members, to review and update the existing Statement.

As part of this review, the group is seeking further comments from parishioners and is providing opportunities to contribute and raise issues or concerns in a variety of ways:

• by letter - address them to The Clerk (VDS), Woodcroft, Warrington Road, Mickle Trafford
• to your local Parish Councillor personally or to the Parish Council in the open forum at one of its meetings
• in open forums and events to be arranged as the work progresses.
• Your comments will be most welcome on any issue e.g. relating to:
  • green belt development
  • the local landscape
  • distinctive features of the various areas covered by the Parish Council ( Mickle Trafford, Hoole Village, Picton, Wimbolds Trafford and Bridge Trafford)
• future developments and perceived needs or omissions from the current VDS.

At this early stage of the review, all constructive comment is welcome and we will aim to summarise the comments received in future newsletters.
